Jan D. Bláha, Ph.D. (researcher)

He graduated from the Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Science, in Geography and Cartography, with specialization in cartography and geoinformatics, and also from the same university, Faculty of Arts, Department of Culture, in Cultural Studies with specialization in cultural anthropology. He is a member of the Czech Geographical Society, the Czech Educational Research Association, and the European Society for Oceanists. He completed several internships in Germany and Austria.

As regards research, he is engaged in aesthetic and cultural and anthropological aspects of cartographic production and the assessment of cartographic works from the user perspective. He is engaged especially in relations between utility functions of maps and their aesthetic function and studies how they influence each other. He recently pays his attention also to comprehensive research on so-called mental maps in the case of various groups of individuals and also to research in the field of geographic education (school atlas creation, analysis of textbooks, and mental mapping of pupils).

 

Jiří Anděl, Ph.D. (team member)

He works at the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Science, UJEP as an associate professor and deputy head of the department. His research focuses on the issues of regional geography (e.g. world macro-regions), social geography and geographical education. He is the author of geography textbooks for secondary schools.

 

 

 

Silvie R. Kučerová, Ph.D. (team member 2019–2020)

She is an assistant professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, UJEP, and in the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. She specializes in issues of education geography, geography education, rural geography, and cultural geography. She has participated in the creation of tests for entrance examinations in geography, Bachelor studies, Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague.

 

 

Tomáš Matějček, Ph.D. (team member 2020–)

He is an assistant professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, UJEP and the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Faculty of Science, Charles University. He has already participated in the solution of a number of research projects, currently he is mainly involved in the solution of application projects focused on the application of geographical and environmental topics in education.

 

 

Petr Trahorsch, Ph.D. (team member)

He is an assistant professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, UJEP. The area of his research is geographical education, specifically the issue of learning pupils from different types of visuals and textbook analysis; secondarily he also deals with the issue of cartographic aids in school education (eg evaluation of their quality, pupils' results, etc.).

M.Sc. Jan Ptáček (co-researcher)

He is currently the director of Kartografie Praha, which focuses, among other things, on the production of school cartographic aids.

She currently works as the editor-in-chief at Kartografie Praha. She is a graduate of the Charles University in Prague. She has a lot of experience in the production of various teaching materials for primary and secondary schools.
