Abstract: This article describes the advantages and disadvantages of creating maps with traditional GIS software, considering the means of map representation. Readers are provided with instructions on how to choose the correct means of map representation like correct method of thematic cartography to express quantity × quality and to express absolute × relative values of the phenomenon.
